Shamisa Debroey is a Belgian-Zimbabwean illustrator and comic artist based in Antwerp.

She graduated with a Master’s in Comics from Sint-Lukas Brussels and published her debut graphic novel Verdwaald in 2013. Her vibrant, intuitive style has led to collaborations with Apple, Samsung, De Standaard, Volkskrant, Bozar, KMSKA and many more.

Her work spans illustration, live performances, talks on diversity in comics, and community-driven art projects. Shamisa has published children’s books with Horizon, Lannoo, Harmonie & Rose Stories, curated for Passa Porta Festival, and was artist-in-residence at ELCAF in 2018.

Her book KIMIA was longlisted for the Boon Literature 2026 prize. ​

She previously worked as Creative Communities programmer at DE SINGEL and currently coordinates MerksemDok, a cultural space focused on connection and creativity.
